Brookfield Responses

We believe in open communication and holding property management accountable for their actions. By sharing Brookfield's replies, we aim to keep the community informed and engaged in the ongoing dialogue for better living conditions. Explore this page to see how Brookfield addresses our grievances and how/if they commit to improvement. Together, we can foster a more transparent and accountable relationship with our property management.

Below you'll find copies of the communications and requests that our tenant group has sent to Brookfield and Brookfield's responses to those requests and communications to our group so far.

Tenant Group Actions

6/27/2024

We sent Brookfield a comprehensive 29-point complaint and proposed solutions based on our first tenant meeting and community input.

7/14/2024

We filed a lengthy complaint with Attorney General Schwalb and Samuel Levine of the Federal Trade Commission for the portion of complaints most related to "unfair and deceptive practices" which gives FTC jurisdiction. You can view a copy of the complaint here (note: exhibits intentionally excluded from this copy).

We sent a follow-up email to Brookfield to let them know we filed this complaint and encouraged them to resolve our complaints or we would continue to pursue additional action. You can see that email here.

Brookfield's Responses

7/16/2024

Brookfield's initial reply to our to address our detailed complaint spreadsheet, including general responses about fair housing, lobby attendants and packages, utilities and billing, and management communication and responsiveness.

7/30/2024

Brookfield's second reply. This communication with small updates on utilities, entryways and security. Note: the flyers referenced in the email were not created as an action of our collective but clearly show that the frustration with poor management of our homes and community spaces is only growing. We reached out to management after their email to clarify.

8/21/2024

Not a reply to our collective concerns but a notice that Brookfield will resume common area electric billing for residents at the Guild and Estate. Some residents are being credited for overcharging that occurred when they first implemented the new charges but there's no information on how those charges were or are now being calculated.
